Privacy Policy

Information we collect

• Account information — your email address and name, used to create and secure your account and to communicate with you. You can sign in with email/password, Google, or Sign in with Apple. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple shares your name and email (or a private "Hide My Email" relay address, which we treat like any other email) with us to create your account.
• Profile information — your nationality, home country, target country, visa type, and interviewer avatar/voice preference, used to personalize your practice sessions and question bank.
• Practice session data — your typed or transcribed answers, scores, feedback, and delivery metrics (speaking pace, filler words), used to generate feedback and track your progress over time.
• Document checklist data — the checklist items, statuses, and notes you enter, used to generate a personalized document readiness analysis.
• Bookmarked questions — questions you save for later review.
• Microphone audio — if you choose to answer by voice, your spoken answer is briefly uploaded and converted to text by our transcription service. The audio is used only to produce that text, is not linked to your profile, and is not shared beyond our transcription service provider. You can always switch to typed answers instead.
• Optional personalization details — university/course, employer, sponsor relationship, and funding source, if you choose to enter them before a session. These are used only in the moment to generate personalized questions for that session and are not stored — not saved to your profile, session history, or any database. You'll need to re-enter them for future sessions.
• Approximate location (IP address) — we use your IP address to approximately determine your country and currency, in order to show relevant pricing and detect your region (e.g., India). This lookup is performed via a third-party geolocation service (ipapi.co) and the result is cached locally for up to 7 days. This approximate location data is not linked to your account or stored on our servers.
• Contact form submissions — if you contact us via the contact form, we store your name, email address, and message in order to respond to your inquiry.

What we don't collect

We do not collect, store, or request your actual visa application, passport number, government ID numbers, or any real application materials. VisaPrep AI is a practice tool only and is never used to submit or process a real visa application.

Permissions we request

The only device permission VisaPrep AI requests is microphone access, and only when you choose to answer a practice question by voice instead of typing. We do not request or use camera, location, contacts, calendar, Bluetooth, NFC, phone/call, or storage permissions.

AI-generated content

Feedback, scores, and sample answers are generated using AI and are intended for practice purposes. They may occasionally be inaccurate and should not be relied on as official guidance.

Payment information

VisaPrep AI is currently free to use and does not process any payments. If paid features are introduced in the future, purchases will be handled through your device's app store, and we will update this policy.

How we use your information

We use your information to operate and improve the app: generating interview questions and AI feedback, tracking your progress, and responding to support requests. We do not sell your personal information.

Analytics

We collect basic usage analytics, such as screens viewed and session activity, through our app platform provider to understand how the app is used and to improve it. This data is not used for advertising and is not shared with advertisers or data brokers.

Data security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data retention & deletion

You can permanently delete your account and all associated data (your profile, practice sessions, bookmarks, document checklists, subscription records, and contact messages) at any time from Settings.

Children's privacy

VisaPrep AI is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under this age.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
